Warehouse Shift Supervisor

Description:

The Warehouse Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing warehouse operations during an assigned shift, ensuring that all internal logistics activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures. This role focuses on daily execution, team supervision, inventory accuracy, and adherence to operational plans to support production and internal customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities during the assigned shift, including receiving, storage, picking, material handling, and internal distribution.
  • Ensure timely and accurate material flow to support production schedules and internal demand.
  • Lead and manage warehouse personnel, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with work instructions.
  • Enforce safety rules, housekeeping standards, and internal logistics procedures.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and support cycle counts, shift handovers, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Ensure proper use and handling of warehouse equipment and material handling tools.
  • Communicate shift priorities, issues, and performance results to the Warehouse Manager or Materials Manager.
  • Identify and escalate operational issues such as material shortages, delays, or system discrepancies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse efficiency, layout, and material flow.
  • Ensure accurate system transactions in ERP or warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Participate in training, onboarding, and development of warehouse team members.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse operations or internal logistics.
  • Prior experience supervising or leading teams in an operational environment.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control, warehouse processes, and material flow.
  • Experience using ERP or WMS systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, or weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean logistics or continuous improvement principles.
  • Forklift or material handling equipment certification.
  • Experience working in multi-shift operations.
