Position: Night Shift Production Team Lead

Industry: Global ingredients / chemical manufacturing company

Location: New Century, Kansas

Type: Permanent, On‑Site

Pay Range: $35–45/hr (based on experience)

Shift Differential: +$1.20/hr for night shift

Bonus: 4% target annual bonus

Sign‑On Bonus: $2,500 (paid in 3 installments)

Schedule (Must Be Comfortable with Nights)

  • Training (First 3–6 Months): Day shift, Monday–Friday (40 hours/week)
  • Permanent Schedule (Post‑Training): 12-hour shifts 4:45 PM – 5:15 AM on a 3-day 4-day weekly rotation
  • 3 day weeks: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
  • 4 day weeks: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Overview

A large, global ingredients manufacturing company is seeking a Night Shift Production Team Lead with a strong engineering foundation and hands‑on technical mindset. This role leads production teams during overnight operations and is designed as a developmental pathway for engineers seeking plant‑floor experience, exposure to complex continuous manufacturing systems, and long‑term growth into leadership or process engineering roles.

This position is ideal for problem solvers who enjoy troubleshooting, understanding system behavior, and making real‑time decisions in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead finishing production operations including congealing (spray) towers, packaging lines, and hydrate/tube chill processes
  • Troubleshoot temperature‑ and pressure‑driven processes with focus on:
  • Heat and mass transfer
  • Air balancing and pneumatic systems
  • Liquid pumps, blowers, and cooling systems
  • Monitor equipment performance and partner with maintenance and quality teams to resolve issues
  • Track and document production metrics, shift reports, and personnel performance
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, efficiency, and team engagement
  • Assist the Production Supervisor with employee evaluations and corrective actions
  • Maintain and promote a safe, clean, and compliant work environment

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of process engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of continuous manufacturing systems and chemical/thermal processes
  • Hands‑on experience troubleshooting temperature‑ and pressure‑driven processes
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems, pumps, blowers, and cooling systems
  • Comfortable working night shift schedules

Plusses

  • Experience within: Chemical, Bakery, or Paper manufacturing plants
  • Exposure to congealing (spray) towers, packaging lines, or hydrate/tube chill processes
  • Experience using SAP for inventory, material movements, BOMs, and finished goods adjustments
  • Experience analyzing process data and trends using statistical methods
  • Experience writing or revising SOPs
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience
