FOOD SERVICE JOB DESCRIPTION
KITCHEN ASSISTANT
6:30AM
30 hrs/week, M-F
Hourly position
The Kitchen Assistant is a position that requires multi-tasking and work efficiency. The preferred candidate will be able to work independently when necessary but who understands the importance of being a team player and helping where help is needed. The Kitchen Assistant will also be trained to be a sub route driver.
JOB DUTIES and ASSIGNMENTS:
There are various assignments during the day. Duties include, but are not limited to: Help cooks with meal for the day. Includes: cooking, preparing, counting, dipping, taking food to warmers or coolers, and continually asking them if they need help Help tray meals and pack sealed meals that are in trays.
Be responsible for temping food for drivers before leaving the kitchen. Assist with prep of frozen meals.
Washing dishes-includes washing, rinsing, sanitizing, and setting up sinks and dish machine with proper chemicals.
Putting clean dishes away - all dishes must properly air dry and should never be put away wet or unclean.
Help wash skillets and ovens and other food service equipment.
Assist with cleaning kitchen areas and equipment as needed and under direction of Lead cook or Kitchen Supervisor
Assist with monthly inventory.
Assist with putting away deliveries and managing freezer storage space.
• Will be trained to act as a sub driver on meal routes.
Other duties that assist kitchen staff as directed by Kitchen Supervisor and Lead Cook
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
1. All food service jobs require cleaning with chemicals, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, stooping, climbing, squatting, and twisting. A doctor's note is needed to specify
any known restrictions.
2. Maintain and follow highest standards of policies and procedures in safety/sanitation. 3. Must follow the kitchen dress code requirements.
4. Have reliable transportation.
5. Understand the importance of reporting to work on time every day. 6. Have valid driver's license.
