Description
The position is on call approximately one week per month. A stipend of $350 is paid per week, when on call. In addition, employees are paid hourly when called into work. Weekday on call schedule: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Weekend on call schedule: Friday at 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 a.m. Monday.

This position will cover the Bourbon and Linn County area.

The Juvenile Intake Officer is responsible for completing a juvenile intake assessment and other screening instruments as required per policy on youth taken into the custody of law enforcement. The Juvenile Intake Officer works closely with juveniles. Works under general supervision.
Examples of Duties

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • On-call during scheduled time to respond in a 30-minute time frame to complete the Juvenile Intake and Assessment at local law enforcement agencies.
  • Maintain Juvenile Intake and Assessment Services paperwork and computer ready to respond to agencies when contacted.
  • Check and respond to any agency emails, phone calls or texts.
  • Handle crisis and stressful situations involving youth and families.
  • Turn in time sheet as needed for stipend, getting called out for an intake and training which is completed.
  • Participate in required annual training (20 hours) per KDOC standards.
  • Communicate any schedule changes as needed to the Program Supervisor / Director.
  • Communicate issues, concerns about youth from the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Services that was completed.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as scheduled by the Program Supervisor /Director.
  • Turn in Juvenile Intake and Assessment Services paperwork when an intake is completed.
Typical Qualifications

Position Requirements:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college credit hours in the areas of behavioral science, criminal justice, political science, psychology, sociology or other- related field generally preferred.
  • Prior experience working with juveniles, as well as working knowledge of the legal system and available resources preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Be available during scheduled time to respond in a 30-minute time frame to complete the Juvenile Intake and Assessment at local law enforcement agencies.
