Schedule: 12-hour shifts, including weekends from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

Location: AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, 9100 West 74th Street, Merriam, KS 66204.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will:

  • Provide direct respiratory care across various departments following established protocols.
  • Be knowledgeable in both routine and critical care respiratory practices.
  • Assess and evaluate patient conditions to recommend appropriate changes in care.

Your role will require immediate responses to emergencies, thorough patient assessments, and performing procedures in alignment with physician orders and protocols.

Your Contributions Will Include:

  • Quickly responding to emergency situations and ensuring timely assessments and interventions.
  • Maintaining readiness of emergency supplies and equipment.
  • Performing and interpreting ABG procedures while taking appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Utilizing the AIDET communication model (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank) consistently with patients and families.
  • Demonstrating proficiency with various respiratory devices, including Ventilators and Incentive Spirometry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or technical school graduate.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Certification in Pulmonary Function Technology preferred.
  • Current Kansas Respiratory Therapist License.
  • BCLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • NRP certification if working in the NICU.
