Gardner Parks & Recreation Spring/Summer Employment

The Gardner Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for seasonal positions for the 2026 Spring/Summer Season. Applications will be accepted through February 1, 2026.

Spring/Summer 2026 Positions and Required Qualifications

*Pool Manager: Must have experience as an assistant manager. Managers are responsible for oversight of all operations at the Gardner Aquatic Center; opening and closing, employee schedules, money handling, maintenance, training and evaluation of employees, directly supervising 100+ employees, and customer service. Must obtain Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification. $19.75 per hour. Age 18+

*Swim Lesson Coordinator: Must have experience with teaching swimming lessons. Oversight of GAC swimming lessons; scheduling instructors, training and evaluation of instructors, and customer service. Must obtain Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification. $16.75 per hour. Age 18+

*Assistant Pool Manager: Must have experience as a lifeguard. Primary responsibilities include assisting the pool manager, oversight of daily operations and staff, money handling, pool cleanliness, customer service, and some staff training. Must obtain Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification. $15.75 per hour. Age 18+

*Head Lifeguard: Must have experience as a lifeguard. Primary responsibility to assist lifeguards in day-to-day duties through training and providing excellent lifeguarding examples. Must become certified through Red Cross lifeguard training. $14.75 per hour. Age 16+

*Lifeguard: Responsible for explaining and enforcing rules, regulations and policies to ensure the safety of patrons. Must become certified through Red Cross lifeguard training. $14.00 per hour. Age 15+

*Swim Lesson Instructor: Responsible for monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries while teaching basic swimming skills. Must become certified through Red Cross Training. $14.50 per hour. Age 15+

*Pool Facility Attendant/Cashier: Primary duties include working tube huts, lazy river, slides and cashiering. $9.25 per hour. Age 14+

*Pool Maintenance: Primary responsibilities include cleaning swimming pools, decks, drains and restroom facilities. Must be available for weekends. $11.50 per hour. Age 15+

*Pool Concession Worker: Responsibilities include food sales at the Gardner Aquatic Center. Applicants should possess good math and customer service skills. $9.25 per hour. Age 14+

*Facility Supervisor: Must be 18 years of age or older and can pass background check and drug screen. Work in the evenings, 2 to 3 nights per week, Monday through Sunday. Occasional weekends are required, those hours generally being during the day. Primary responsibilities include supervising volleyball, baseball, softball and soccer games at Celebration Park and Westside Park Sports Complexes located in Gardner. General knowledge of volleyball, baseball, softball & soccer rules a plus. Must be able to handle difficult situations and work well under pressure. CPR/First Aid/AED certification is preferred. $16.00 per hour. Age 18+

*Adult Volleyball Official: Primary responsibilities include officiating volleyball games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. General knowledge of volleyball rules is a must. Officials must provide their own whistle. $13.25 per game. Age 16+

*Soccer Official: Primary responsibilities include officiating youth soccer games; working mostly weekends. General knowledge of soccer rules is a must. Applicants must provide their own uniform and attend mandatory training sessions. $14-$25 per game depending on division. Age 14+

*Umpire: Primary responsibilities include umpiring baseball and/or softball games; working 1 to 5 nights a week, some weekends are possible. General knowledge of baseball/softball rules is a must. Applicants must provide their own uniform and attend a mandatory training session. $20-$35 per game depending on league. Age 14+

*Park Maintenance Seasonal: Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be available for evening and weekend hours. Primary responsibilities include activities such as mowing, landscaping, athletic field preparations, and other park maintenance duties. $14.50 per hour. Age 16+

*Sports Complex Concession Worker: Responsibilities include food sales at the three sports complexes. This position will begin end of March and go through early November. Applicants should possess good math and customer service skills and be available to work weeknights and weekends. $9.25 per hour. Age 14+
