This executive-level position leads Risk and Operations for the Wealth Division. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in wealth risk and compliance, regulatory knowledge, operational best practices, and transformative leadership.

This role reports to the SVP of Banking Risk, Operations and Data and has visibility across the enterprise. You will design and implement an integrated wealth risk and operations model to increase efficiency, enhance compliance, and improve client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Advisory: Design and implement a centralized risk and operations model across the Wealth division; serve as a strategic advisor to division management; build relationships with legal, audit, finance, enterprise risk, technology, and front-office leadership; translate division strategy into operational plans; balance short-term needs with long-term goals; represent Wealth in bank-level forums; anticipate industry and regulatory trends.

Risk Governance and Compliance

  • Serve as a senior risk officer for the Wealth division, ensuring compliance with SEC, FINRA, OCC, and state trust regulations; oversee ongoing risk oversight including operational, fiduciary, reputational, business, and strategic risks; provide proactive oversight of risk and control effectiveness; oversee testing, monitoring, risk assessments, and mitigation plans; make independent risk decisions within governance frameworks; act as final approval authority for significant operational changes within risk parameters.

Operational Excellence and Transformation

  • Drive operational transformation through process redesign, automation, role clarification, technology enhancements, and clear accountabilities; modernize operations using automation and digital tools; manage operating metrics (billing accuracy, workflow cycle times, trade processing, vendor performance); ensure processes comply with policy and regulatory requirements; manage budget, people, and technology to optimize results; oversee risk-related financial performance including loss prevention and efficiency targets.

Stakeholder Management and Reporting

  • Coordinate internal audits, regulatory exams, and investigations with Corporate Compliance; measure success with data-driven KPIs; guide senior leaders on day-to-day processes and strategic initiatives to avoid compliance and reputational issues; advise on preventing violations; represent Wealth in enterprise governance committees and external industry forums.

Talent and Culture Development

  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement; challenge decisions when risk warrants intervention; drive innovative approaches to complex risk and operational challenges; lead transformational initiatives across Wealth; build a high-performing risk and operations team through hiring, coaching, and performance management; promote cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA/JD) or certifications (e.g., CFA, CCO, CAMS, CFIRS, CRCP, CTFA, IAACP, Series 7/24) strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services with leadership in risk and operations across wealth management (experience with OCC, SEC, FINRA, trust, RIA, broker-dealer, capital markets preferred).
  • Proven experience leading transformations and integrating siloed operations; track record of implementing operational strategies that drive efficiency and client service.

Technical & Leadership Competencies

  • Deep understanding of financial regulations and fiduciary obligations across trust and investment businesses.
  • Strong in designing and executing operational strategies in complex environments; analytical, communication, and leadership skills; ability to influence across levels.
  • Skilled in operational risk identification, internal controls, scenario analysis, and root cause remediation; excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of bank policies, laws, FINRA/SEC regulations, and BSA/AML program as applicable.

Salary Range: $170,000-$260,000
