Our Team and the Opportunity

Black & Veatch's Fuels & Natural Resources focus on global investors and operators needing solutions to convert resources into fuels and feedstocks. The Gas Processes Team seeks a Senior Process Engineer to lead process design for LNG and related technologies, spanning Feasibility to commissioning.

Key capabilities include consulting, FEED, full engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and commissioning/start-up of gas processing, NGL fractionation, hydrogen, ammonia/fertilizers, and related processes. Our team leverages PRICO technologies and supports natural gas, midstream, power, and related markets.

The Opportunity

• Function as a technical specialist and/or lead a group and project management responsibilities.
• Lead process engineering design of chemical facilities, including LNG, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen, Fertilizers (Ammonia, Urea, etc.), Gasification, Fermentation, Sulfur Recovery, Gas Treatment, Biofuels, Syngas Processing, and NGL Recovery and Fractionation.
• Lead implementation of solutions through the project lifecycle: feasibility, FEL stages, FEED, detailed design, EPC and commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and review their work.

The ideal candidate will be located or willing to relocate to our World Headquarters in Overland Park, KS (Kansas City) or our Regional Office in Houston, TX.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of LNG liquefaction design or related technologies.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License.
• Working knowledge of PRO II, Promax, Protreat, HYSYS and similar process simulation packages.
• Strong written and communication skills, and ability to lead and build teams.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable standards related to process engineering.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 11 years related work experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on department design guides, standards, processes, and applicable engineering codes; may own or develop engineering standards and guides.
• Ensure compliance with quality programs and support continuous improvement, change management and risk management.
• Prepare complex engineering deliverables for mega projects; oversee data management for engineering work.
• Prepare complex calculations, manage budgets/schedules/quality, and oversee task delegation within project teams.
• Coordinate with internal/external team members on complex projects and define project schedules for single or multiple disciplines.
• Identify client interests and drivers, and develop approaches to address them in project work.
• Support business development and pursue client opportunities where appropriate.
• Act as a technical specialist in broad or specialized areas, mentoring staff and guiding engineering processes.
• Oversee performance management, career development, and related activities; participate in workforce planning.

Work Environment

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days, subject to manager discretion and work requirements.
