Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care is a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The purpose of the Coffee Shop Cashier is to work within the Osawatomie Hospital Snack Shack. The primary duty of this position is to wait on customers coming into the Cafe. The secondary, but equally important part of this job is stocking food for purchase, maintain inventory, and keeping a clean work area. This applicant will also be responsible for abiding by appropriate safety standards related to food service. Incumbent must be able to lift 30lbs or more to perform essential job duties. The snack Shack is a fast-paced environment, therefore applicant must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.
The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Be able to observe and respond to residents in distress. Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
Provide excellent customer service by providing food and drinks for purchase to patients and staff of the Osawatomie State Hospital. Adheres to food safety standards. Keeps inventory of food and drink supply. Balances cash drawer daily. Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in storekeeping, including receiving, inspecting, cataloging, and storing goods and maintaining inventory records. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications that may be used to screen applicants: One year of experience in a food service environment. Serve Safe Credentials.
