Job Summary

Black & Veatch has a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, driven, team-focused Recruiter to join our award-winning Early Careers team. In collaboration with team members and stakeholders, this role centers on sourcing, engaging, and recruiting top talent from specific channels for early careers opportunities. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including key contacts at schools throughout the United States to develop recruiting strategies and execute brand-building, relationship development, and on-campus recruiting event efforts in support of the companys early career talent needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier universities and target student groups.
  • Plan and execute on-campus and in-house events for students, including delivering company presentations.
  • Develop innovative recruitment strategies supported by data-driven insights and in partnership with business partners.
  • Proactively assess and improve recruitment strategies as part of the departments continuous improvement strategy.
  • Source candidates through internet and resume database searches, referrals, former employees/candidates/applicants, cold calling, and ad placements to fill current employment openings.
  • Conduct phone screens with candidates to determine if position requirements are met, as well organizational fit. Forward top prospects to hiring department for review.
  • Ensure hiring manager has quality information for hiring decisions, such as application, resume, transcripts, references, etc.
  • Provide a consistent, top-tier experience for all stakeholders, including candidates, hiring managers, college and university partners, and other business stakeholders.
  • Discuss external market conditions with hiring manager, such as compensation, relocation, etc. to assist in the decision process.
  • Plan and execute internship program activities as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2-4+ years of recruiting experience, preferably in a company within engineering or construction industry.
  • Knowledge of college recruiting best practices, trends, and processes.
  • A clear, polished communicator with exceptional written and verbal skills.
  • A team player with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, able to balance competing priorities with strong follow-through.
  • Passionate about leveraging data to shape recruiting strategies and decisions.
  • Eager to understand how campus recruiting impacts the broader business and excited about shaping early talent pipelines.
  • Willing to travel for recruiting events.
Minimum Qualifications

2+ years related HR experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment authorization for this job opening.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This position operates from a variety of in-office, home, on-campus and corporate/convention hall work environments, including extensive sitting, standing, keyboarding, screen time and the need to communicate through a variety of platforms. Hybrid work schedule that offers a balance between working together in person and the flexibility of remote work. Our hybrid work model means you will work three days in the office and two days from another location of your choice.
