Description:

Director of Operations – Post-Frame Construction (Onsite – Richmond, KS)

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Operations to oversee and optimize end-to-end operations at a growing post-frame construction company based in Richmond, Kansas. This key leadership role will ensure operational excellence across logistics, inventory management, dispatch, production coordination, and team leadership, all within a dynamic and fast-paced construction manufacturing environment.

📍 Location:

Onsite – Richmond, KS

Minimal travel (2–3 times per year) to company offices in Indiana and Wisconsin.

💼 What You'll Do:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of a steel manufacturing facility and full-scale lumber yard supporting custom construction projects.
  • Manage complex logistics, including incoming steel coil shipments and outbound freight coordination (LTL and full truckload).
  • Lead dispatch and transportation logistics for a dedicated fleet:
  • 5 company drivers
  • 6–7 heavy-duty semis with forklifts
  • 2 roll-off trucks
  • Ensure smooth production flow by coordinating across purchasing, design, and manufacturing teams.
  • Supervise accurate and timely processing of bills of lading and shipping documentation.
  • Maintain strategic inventory levels and implement cost-effective purchasing and supply chain strategies.
  • Navigate the unpredictable nature of the construction industry, adjusting to weather delays and other scheduling changes in real time.
  • Act as a collaborative leader on the ground, fostering cross-department alignment and driving results.

🎯 Key Requirements:

  • 3–5+ years of operational leadership in manufacturing, logistics, or construction-related environments.
  • Strong background in transportation management, supply chain, and dispatch operations.
  • Experience with steel or lumber industries is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to thrive in high-change, schedule-volatile settings.
  • Familiarity with construction-manufacturing workflows is a major advantage.
  • Proficient with CRM tools such as Hubspot.
  • Must be adaptable, proactive, and comfortable leading from the front in a hands-on role.

🏗️ Environment & Culture:

This is a fast-paced, boots-on-the-ground operation with a culture built on hustle, accountability, and adaptability. The sales team is diverse in style—from high-volume, detail-obsessed performers to relationship-driven agricultural specialists. Success in this environment requires a balance of operational rigor, collaborative spirit, and the ability to pivot quickly when conditions change.
