Job Responsibilities:Oversee kitchen operations to ensure safe, nutritious, and budget-conscious meal service for guests resulting in positive feedback from group leaders, campers, and staff. Develop and oversee procedures for orderly serving and cleanup for meals including cookouts and snacks. Schedule, train, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and local government guidelines regarding food preparation and service.Plan menus with input from program staff and customers considering known food allergies (and the ingredients that may cause the allergy) and dietary restrictions. Notify individuals in advance of any dietary needs that cannot be accommodated. Coordinate with suppliers to order food and kitchen supplies to ensure adequate stock while minimizing waste or overstocking.Oversee the proper storage of all food items, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations to prevent contamination, spoilage, and cross-contamination.Maintain an organized kitchen and storage area.Monitor kitchen equipment and supplies for any needed maintenance or repair.Ensure camp rules and policies are followed, maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all.Be a positive role model for campers and fellow staff members.Qualifications:Previous experience managing a kitchen and staff preferably in a camp, school, or institutional setting.Ability to prepare meals for large groups, including children with dietary restrictions and food allergies.Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations.Ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies efficiently.Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.Friendly, positive attitude with a focus on providing excellent service to campers and staff.Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.).Ability to pass a background check. The manager is expected to be present for part of both shifts each day up to 40 hours per week. Overtime may be approved, if required.
