DEMDACO, a worldwide gift, home dcor and seasonal product company is seeking a FULL-TIME Maintenance Mechanic Technician to work in our Edgerton, Kansas distribution center.
We are looking for a team member who has the skills to maintain our distribution center with knowledge of general maintenance and technical support. As safety coordinator, you will be responsible for preventive maintenance as well as troubleshooting and installing equipment when needed. Our distribution center is located in Edgerton, KS with easy access to I35 highway.
Briefly describe the position responsibilities:
Performs and Coordinates activities of others in designated area(s) of the warehouse operation to ensure facilities and equipment are kept in good working condition. This job requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years of leadership experience in a warehousing/operations environment. The position will follow general guidelines as provided by the Facilities Manager and will coordinate activities within the areas of responsibility to accomplish daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly goals. Acts as Safety Coordinator for the warehouse operation.

- The DC Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance on the building systems, and assigned equipment
- This includes performing projects and response maintenance duties on electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and finish building trades
- Conduct preventive maintenance (PM's) within manufacturer's guidelines/specifications and established timelines
- Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for planning and scheduling work
- Schedules and performs minor electrical maintenance consisting of replacing switches, replacing ballasts and lamps in lighting fixtures, replacing motors, and performing routine inspections for safety and equipment maintenance
- Interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals
- Schedules minor maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and compressor systems
- Repair dock doors and perform rack installations as needed
- Performs routine maintenance on material handling equipment to include, but not limited to, conveyors, lift equipment, hoists, maintenance platforms, batteries, and dock levelers
- This includes briefing and controlling contracted maintenance support as well as performing routine inspections for safety and equipment maintenance
- Perform required tasks in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures, rules, and safety procedures
- Schedules routine maintenance and minor repairs on various appliances consisting of smoke detection systems, intrusion alarm devices, security systems, kitchen equipment, shredders, and time clocks
- This includes briefing and controlling contracted maintenance support and having sufficient working knowledge of the building suppression notification panels to support this maintenance
- Coordinates and completes finishing building trades which include painting, floor repairs, wall and door repairs, and other assigned carpentry projects
- Perform battery preventative maintenance, battery charger repairs, battery changes for material handling equipment (MHE), repair of plugs and tips of batteries and chargers, watering and washing batteries, acid spill cleanup, etc
- Maintain spare parts inventory, order replacements, and prepare routine updates to maintenance records and reports
- Meet compliance with lock out / tag out (LOTO) and Arc Flash guidelines at all times
- Perform other general maintenance tasks as assigned
- Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives
- Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments

Education/Experience:- High School diploma and/or a minimum of 2 year of related experience in at least two of the following disciplines: electrical, plumbing, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
Language Ability: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
Math Ability:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers and decimals. Comprehends relationships of numerical processes, especially relative to area of responsibility.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be familiar with spreadsheet and word processing development and applications as well as PM software.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Directs the work of maintenance assistants and agency personnel as needed
Work Environment:While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to electricity, forklifts and motorized conveyors. The employee's work will be performed in a non-climate controlled warehouse 90% of the time, with the other 10% being performed in an office environment. The employee will be exposed to moderate noise levels.
Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; lift; reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; stoop, kneel or crouch; lie down; talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
