Job Overview

We are seeking an APP to provide hospital-based support at our south Hampton Roads hospitals. Responsibilities include rounding on inpatients, seeing inpatient/emergency room consults, and performing procedures such as cystoscopy for difficult catheter placement, hematuria irrigation, priapism management and more. This is a daytime only position.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a high degree of general medical and urological knowledge and exercise independent judgment as appropriate
  • Assess the patient's medical condition by completion of a urological examination
  • Document appropriately and communicate with the appropriate physician in a timely manner as required, including, but not limited to: evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, treatment notes, and other reports as requested
  • Order and evaluate laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications and devices based on the patient's medical condition
  • Develop and perform treatment plans in accordance with established protocols
  • Order physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or home health care as appropriate
  • Perform hospital-based procedures (cystoscopy for difficult catheter placement, hematuria irrigation, priapism management, etc.) as trained


Requirements

Required License/Experience/Skills
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Licensure in the state of Virginia
  • Ability to commute to the following hospitals: Sentara Norfolk General, Sentara Leigh, Sentara Princess Anne, Sentara Virginia Beach General, Bon Secours Maryview, Chesapeake Regional
